TATAMI BENCH

The stackable bench was designed for the entrance hall at Japanese style cafe & restaurant. They are created based on traditional Japanese woodworking techniques to show Japanese authenticity. The most iconic detail is showing through penetrated tenons at all wooden corner connections. The combination of thick and burly wooden frame and elegant TATAMI seat remind you a historical Japanese temple or an old folk house.

The final assembly of this bench is to put together the wooden frame and the seat with TATAMI. They are assembled with wooden mortises, square holes, and dado without any glue, so that it can be reassembled to replace tatami sheet in the future.
